MEC Bentley Vass responsible for the Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison (and COGHSTA), was hosted by the Brigadier Coetzee, the Station Commander of the Rosedale Police Station and Acting Station Commander of the Rosedale Police Station, Lieutenant Colonel Jafta, today (05 October 2024), and took part in Crime Fighting Operations in Dakotaweg, Pabalello as well as in the Upington CBD.
MEC Vass addressed the Parade at Upington Police Station and was also taken through the different operational and administrative areas of the Police Station and proceeded to take part in an operation in Dakotaweg and Upington CBD.
Searches were executed at premises suspected of selling drugs as well as those selling liquor without an operating license. Several businesses were also visited to check compliance.
The visit was concluded at the Rosedale Police Station where the MEC engaged with the South African Police Service (SAPS) officers and encouraged them to continue the fight against crime in the Station Area, and to ensure that drugs are taken off the streets and other contact crimes, like murders and rapes are prevented.
