Today, the Premier, Dr Zamani Saul together with the MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Mr Bentley Vass and the Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen. Koliswa Otola released the fourth quarter of 2023/2024 and the first quarter of the 2024/2025 Northern Cape Crime Statistics.
The statistics show a decrease in crime across the province for the first quarter of this financial year. There are many success stories as it relates to murder and rape cases, where perpetrators are getting life imprisonment, sending a message to the perpetrators of these heinous crimes. The Premier, in his remarks, commended the detectives for the sentences secured which is a clear indication that there is an improvement in the investigative capacity of the SAPS in the province.
The government calls on faith-based organisations and the broader community to join hands with SAPS to ensure we fight crime together.
