The SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lt. Gen. P.C Otola representing various leaders in the safety and security cluster together with various church leaders, representatives of various religious denominations, Non- Govermental Organisations (NGO's) and community members converged at the Tabernacle Church to hold a church service ahead of the Easter celebrations, on 18 March 2024.
The Easter Church Service was held as a result of law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, as well as those who was unable to celebrate Easter in their respective churches as they were deployed on our roads to ensure a safe and crime- free Easter weekend.
As part of the Pre- Easter celebration, Arch Bishop- E.Mofokeng spiritually prepared law enforcement officers for the journey and work ahead. He continued to share the word of God by taking them through the scripture of the journey of Jesus to the cross Via Dolorosa and various priests, chaplains, bishops delved into the 7 words of the cross.
The prayer session was attended by officials from the Dept. of Transport, Safety & Liaison (DTSL), South African National Defence Force (SANDF), Dept. Of Correctional Services (DCS), Sol Plaatjie Municipality, and the Kimberley Ministers Fraternal.
